Anyone who knows me knows that I’m a big proponent of blockchain and the innovation that blockchain technology (also called distributed transaction ledger – DLT) will unleash.
I recently attended a blockchain conference where I was fortunate to talk with many of the speakers and participants. Going into the conference it was always obvious to me that blockchain is a technology and a framework that changes the game for business and commerce as we know it. Coming away from the conference I had a much better understanding of how blockchain is creating a collision of worlds unlike anything we’ve seen before in previous technology transformations.
Some of the people I met ranged from unemployed blockchain enthusiasts, technology startup innovators, and future state technologists to global investment bankers, corporate attorneys, and government regulators. Most were US-based but the same coming together is happening all around the world. Talk about an interesting and diverse group who all recognize on different levels the opportunities and challenges that blockchain will create.
Cryptocurrency and payment systems, identity and authorization systems, contract based peer-to-peer trading systems, and decentralized immutable voting systems are just a few of the potential applications of blockchain technology, frameworks, and approaches. It’s going to require a unique coming together of new leaders and individuals to fully realize the potential this technology creates. Individuals who can understand and communicate in multiple worlds and on multiple levels will be best positioned to lead this transformation and most rapidly realize its full potential. The world and society as we know it will be transformed by these new leaders and forward thinking individuals.
Will that be you?!?…
