Thanks to Jimmy Song for catching this interesting new Bitcoin block addition. In what seems to be an error in code by a miner, block 501726 was mined with no Bitcoin block reward. The block reward at this time is 12.5 Bitcoin. At the current price ($12,776) this equates to a roughly ~$160k loss. This Bitcoin is now lost forever and joins the pile of never to be spent BTC. It looks like there’s at least one blockchain programmer that’s going to be looking for a new employer in 2018.
